EDMONDS, Clarence Alexander "Dick", 84, of Dundas, Va., died January 31, 2009. He was the widower of Essie Hodge Edmonds. He is survived by his five daughters, Jean Beck of Mechanicsville, Va., Sue Stokley of Taylors, S.C., Dale Spivey of Waverly, Va., Ellen Kirkman of Bel Air, Md., and Sylvia Wilson of Dundas, Va.; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Vergie Brooks of Colonial Heights, Irene Mayton, Martha Reeks, Edith Thompson, all of Blackstone, Va., and Shirley Grady of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one brother, J.B. Edmonds of Lawrenceville, Va. Mr. Edmonds was preceded in death by his son, Clarence A. Edmonds Jr.; and his granddaughter, Charlotte Stokley. He was a World War II Army veteran, a retired farmer, and a member of the Dundas Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009. Interment in the Dundas Baptist Church Cemetery, Dundas, Va. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Dundas Baptist Church Building Fund, 3953 Dundas Rd., Dundas, Va. 23938.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my uncle. I was unable to attend the funeral but my prayers are with all of the family.

Mr. Edmonds was always a good friend and a pleasure to spend time with. I will always remember the good times we shared at Dundas Baptist Church.

Mr. Edmonds was a dear man. He was in the room with my uncle at Heritage Hall a few years ago and was such a pleasant man.
Know that he is in a better place and treasure all your happy times. He really loved to talk about his family.
