Clarence Alexander "Dick" Edmonds

EDMONDS, Clarence Alexander "Dick", 84, of Dundas, Va., died January 31, 2009. He was the widower of Essie Hodge Edmonds. He is survived by his five daughters, Jean Beck of Mechanicsville, Va., Sue Stokley of Taylors, S.C., Dale Spivey of Waverly, Va., Ellen Kirkman of Bel Air, Md., and Sylvia Wilson of Dundas, Va.; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Vergie Brooks of Colonial Heights, Irene Mayton, Martha Reeks, Edith Thompson, all of Blackstone, Va., and Shirley Grady of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one brother, J.B. Edmonds of Lawrenceville, Va. Mr. Edmonds was preceded in death by his son, Clarence A. Edmonds Jr.; and his granddaughter, Charlotte Stokley. He was a World War II Army veteran, a retired farmer, and a member of the Dundas Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009.
