The Greatest Generation

The sun was bright and a cold wind blew over that hallowed ground as we gathered to lay to rest our final male family member of this country’s “Greatest Generation “.
A patriot who signed the ultimate contract committing all that he had including his life to the defense of this Great Nation.
Thank You, Uncle Joe for your commitment and service to your family and this country.. We shall not forget you.
Rest now old soldier your mission has been accomplished here on earth.
“For I’ am always with you”
Embrace him our father, your heroic servant.

I remember the one time I was sick and had to stay home from school so I was taken to Aunt Annie Pearl and Joe's house for the day! And when my mom and grandma came to pick me up, my grandpa almost fell coming down the sidewalk.

I remember when Uncle Joe used to come to Harrisonburg and pick me up with grandma!! He'd pick on me because I'd have to spend my money as soon as I got it. I also remember going to his house when grandma lived in Sandston I'd walk down there to get jelly or jam from his Aunt Annie Pearl!! Uncle Joe will be greatly missed!!
