Mr. Blake came to Davenport & Co. everyday. It was always a pleasure to see him. We often times had very lively discussions. We were deeply sadden to hear of his pasting.

To the Family: Please accept the sincere condolances of the employees of Richmond Express Courier Services. Know that Marvin was well respected by his peers and those clients that he served. He was hard working and dependable, and had a sharp wit that kept us all on our toes all the time. He exhibited his deep Christian beliefs in deeds and actions on a daily basis. He will be sorely missed by his fellow employees, and I am sure he is in heaven right now challenging the Father with the same question he often asked of us: "IS THAT RIGHT?"

To the Blake and Roane Family
I am shocked and saddened to hear that Marvin is no longer with you but I rejoice in knowing that he is with God and the rest of his family. He was a special person and will always be remembered as such. May you find peace in knowing that to be absent from the body means to be present with the Lord.
God Bless You All

I'll always remember Marvin as a fun loving individual. His quick wit was always good to break the silence. I hadn't seen Marvin since shortly after we graduated from KWHS but I'm sure that his great personality carried on throughout his adult life. I can still see his smile, big, bright and full faced! Rest in Peace my friend!

Marvin always said “I might not be here tomorrow,” he knew tomorrow was never promised and I believe he lived each day to the fullest. I am sure he is with the Lord giving a Black History Lesson and information about his Family. His spirit will be missed.

Although this is a time of sorrow for us, Marvin is in heaven smiling (and probably talking God's ear off!). Marvin always had something to say that would just make you shake your head. What can I say....he was Marvin. (smile). He will be missed.
May God bless and keep each of you at this time of sorrow. Remember, God is still good!

Life is short and memories will last forever. I am grateful and blessed to say that I knew Marvin. He was the coordinator for the the youth choir that I was on over 20years ago. He was helping in the church then & continued to touch so many lives. When you saw him his smile would light up a room.

The last time I saw Marvin was probably at a family member's funeral and he greeted me with a big hug and smile. He would ask the question that he always did, "Are you Tammy or Kay"? then answer himself saying you're Kay and then laugh at himself. He will be missed. May God continue to bless the family as they once again go through a time of difficulty in losing a love one.

Marvin took me to his Senior prom in high school. I was a junior at the time. He was real gentleman and continued to be throughout his life. His sense of humor and worryfree manor characterized him as a loving and funny guy. I was saddened by his death but know that he is with the Lord now.

Family, I am very thankful to God for allowing me to know Marvin. I will definitely miss his "last minute" calls to come and sing on a program he was giving. He had such a sweet and kind spirit that I couldn't tell him "no." I saw him at St. Paul's last Sunday and he gave the usual wave and a smile. It gives me great joy to know that Marvin is with the Jesus that he loved and I know that all is well. Trust God and know that He can and will give you peace as you walk through this season of grief.
