Mary Frances Couch

COUCH, Mary Frances passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, James J. Monahan and Ruth Monahan Adkins; her husband, Ralph B. Couch; brothers, Coy and Jimmy Monahan; sisters, Kathryn Alley and Doris Stoneman. Mary was employed for 30 plus years at Allied Chemical, Fibers Division. She loved to have breakfast at McDonald's in Chester and Chesterfield Meadows. She loved to listen to music and boogie. She never met a stranger and provided a halfway house for folks coming to the Richmond area from Ivanhoe, Virginia during the early 50s that were looking for employment. Mary is survived by her two sons, Ed Goodson (Brenda) of Galax, Virginia, Thomas "Steve" Couch (Susan) of Midlothian; grandchildren, Kirk Goodson (Lea Ann) of King, North Carolina, Kris Ann Cannaday (Todd) of Galax, Virginia, Tara Couch Crites (Alan) of Grandy, North Carolina, Ryan Couch (Nicole) of Midlothian, Virginia and Tiffany Couch of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Reid, Ty, Gavin, Leah, Taylor, Kayleigh, Jacob, Aiden, Chloe, Jillian and Brenna; two sisters, Beatrice Underwood, of Ivanhoe, Virginia and Connie Wardlaw (Paul) of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; aunt, Hazel Combs of Maryland; special and devoted niece, Barbara Rost; and many other devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kingsland Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia. and/or Fairview Methodist Church, Ivanhoe, Virginia, both of which she was a member.
