Nannie was the most influential person in my life. I will always have her in my heart. She and I were very close and she was a mother to so many people. She housed many children of the family during different times of their lives. If it had not been for her, who knows where we would have ended up. Certainly nowhere else was there such a loving home and she always let the love of God shine through and be lived everyday.

Dear Bobby & Family,
Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I remember the very first time I met your mother, I rode with you and Aunt Ann up to visit her, she welcomed me with a bright smile and a loving embrace. I loved talking with her about the Lord. She autographed her first book for me, she was a special lady. Her walk with the Lord is an example to us all, I know it is for me. I met her on a few other occasions, & have read all of her books, and from that I learned, that she had some struggles, and battles in life, but it was her unyielding faith & love for the Lord, that always carried her through. So many of us can learn from the example your mother set before us. Allow your hearts to grieve for a time and also rejoice because she is now where she wants to be, with her Lord & Savior. I will miss her terribly but I thank God that He has allowed me the privilege & honor of knowing such a lovable and caring woman such as your mother. I will never forget her. My life has been enriched and blessed by knowing Mrs. Josephine Fitzgerald. My deepest sympathy to the Fitzgerald Family for your loss.

Roger, Justin, Bobby, Bob, Robin,
So sorry for the loss you are feeling at this time. But, the memories are wonderful of this special woman of God. I've thought of her so many times. She was truly a person that had ways of the Lord. I loved listening to her stories, reading her books and just looking at that sweet face. You are all in my prayers. She loved all of you so much and wants to see you again in Heaven, so please learn from the lessons she taught. Love and blessings, Deborah Sumrell

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a wonderful woman. I first met her at Rockfish Valley Baptist church. My sister and I would go to her house for bible study. Many times her walk in life was the only bible I was reading. She helped me so much and I have never forgotten those days. I know she has touched so many. She was a true lady and a Godly woman. I'm glad her family did not mind sharing her...She blessed so many..thank you and I'm sorry for your loss. May God comfort you through this time.

I met Mrs. Fitzgerald when I was attending Kingsland Baptist Church. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She truly loved the Lord, and lived each day for Him.
We had a Bible Study group each week which met in our homes and she would lead us. We memorized scripture and she taught us so much about depending on the Lord.
She also lived in Heathsville for a while where I got to visit with her again. She would witness to everyone she came in contact with.
She will not be forgotten.

I met Ms Fitzgerald when she walked approx 4 miles once a week along with her sons Mark, Jimmy and Tommy to my Aunt Lilly Painter Daniels' when I was a small child. She would teach all the neighborhood kids Bible Stories in Aunt Lilly's yard. Ms Fitzgerald used felt cut-out Bible Characters and a felt covered board as visual aids satisfying our curiosity and our young minds.
I remember being in Ms Fitzgerald's Sunday School Class from 1st grade through high school. She not only led me to accept the Lord as my Saviour but she was instrumental in saving my baby, Stacie's life. When I had lost all hope that my baby would not live another hour, day or week she came to visit. She gave me a book called "Angels Unaware" by Dale Evans. She told me the Lord had sent her. That day I gave my baby's care to the Lord, "The Great Physcian". Praise the Lord for Stacie's 38 years of life and her son Jeremy along with my other two girls Sandi and Jill. What a wonderful blessing these girls are. Ms Fitzgerald taught me that the Lord does not give us a burden that we cannot overcome as long as we believe and turn to him with all of our heart
Ms Fitzgerald also influence my own father, Herbert Smith, to accept Christ as his Saviour. My dad was a Jehovah Witness when he coverted to Christianity due to Ms Fitzgerald teachings and continued prayers.
She never ask anything for herself. She was always praying for others and putting them before her own needs. Next to Jesus I thought she was the most perfect person I knew.
Thank You Ms Fitzgerald for sharing your love in Jesus, your life and your beliefs with this humble servant of Jesus Christ.
I can visualize you in Heaven singing and dancing with Jesus and all God's Angels. Just like the song by Alan Jackson, "Strolling Through Heaven One Glad Day". Ms Fitzgerald, your day is here. I will always hold loving memories of you in my heart.

I don't know where to start. "Grandma Jo" as she was affectionately called by my family was like a second Grandma. Had it not been for her wisdom and prayers, my sister Stacie may never have left the hospital. She told my mom that the Lord would help her take care of her special needs baby. Most of you know that Grandma Jo had many notebooks with pictures of people and their prayer requests. She was my prayer warrior for more years than I can count. I have beautiful photos of her with many members of my family, an especially precious one of her with my son, Matt and my nephew, Jeremy. She led me to the Lord when I was in her bible school class at Kingsland Baptist. I have never met anyone who loved the Lord more than she did. It showed in her face, her actions, her faith and the love she had for everyone she met. Although she will be greatly missed here on earth, I am so happy that she's in Heaven with her sweet Jesus.
