During this time of mourning, I would like to express my sincere condolence at the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in persistent prayers, as “the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers.” [Phil. 4:7] I certainly hope that the help God can give at this time will make a difference.

Judge Sullenberger will always be the standard by which I evaluate judges. He was tough but fair. He followed the law. And, he demanded that those in front of him knew of that which they were speaking. My favorite quote from him: "What is your statutory authority?" I must admit I was not so fond of it then when standing in front of him--but I have come to appreciate it as time has passed. Godspeed Judge Sullenberger.

I fondly remember Judge riding in his convertible through Culpeper while I was standing on the corner, envious. Also, we had a discussion one day about a cassette of Christmas carols, all string musical instruments and my husband made a copy for him.
