THOMAS, Otis A. "Buck", of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Burlington, N.C., died on February 27, 2009 at home. Mr. Thomas was born on August 17, 1916 in Lawrenceville, Va., to the late Otis Alexander and Ruth Short Thomas, the fifth of 16 children. Following graduation from business school in Richmond, Va., Mr. Thomas served in World War II. He married Robbie G. Stockton of Shelby, N.C. in Hollywood, Calif. They raised their family in Burlington. He was active in the Jaycees and was awarded Jaycee Man of the Year. He served as a lay minister at the Front Street Methodist Church and was active in both local and state PTA organizations. Following retirement as the manager of the Wholesale Division of the Remnants and Textiles Inc., he lived in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he and wife, Bobbie enjoyed bridge and gardening. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, Robbie S. Thomas; daughter, Kelly S. Thomas of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Roy Thomas and wife, Tiffany of Durham, N.C.; daughter, Wilkie Pitman and husband, Brent, of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, Grant and Emily Pitman of Charlotte. Memorials can be made to Liberty Church in Lawrenceville, Va. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Va., followed by a graveside service.

I am sorry to hear of this news Kelly, and offer my condolences to you and your family. I did not know Mr. Thomas was from Lawrenceville. I spent much time there in my youth because I was close to my aunt's family (Maclin). I hope and trust you are comforted by the strength and support of that kind community.
