Girlene Stinnette Obituary

STINNETTE, Girlene Mae Atkins, departed this life and went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2009. She was born in St. Stephens Church, Va., on June 25, 1914, and was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rosa Atkins; and by her husband, Robert B. Stinnette. She is survived by her son, Robert Dale Stinnette and his wife, Nan Martin Stinnette; grandson, Robert John Stinnette and his wife, Christine, of Virginia Beach; stepgreat-granddaughter, Alicia Tingzon of California; granddaughter, Melissa Kay Coale and her husband, Roger; and great-grandson, Carson Parker Coale, all of Hockessin, Del.; sisters, Rosa Young and Dorothy Clark, both of Richmond, and Mildred Mitchell of Walkerton; and niece, Barbara Ann Stokes and husband, Curtis, of Monroe, Va. Mrs. Stinnette was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gill Sunday School Class. She was a longtime employee of the former First and Merchants Bank in downtown Richmond. Mrs. Stinnette will be greatly missed for an ever-inspiring happy attitude and positive outlook on life. She was a wonderful inspiration and very devoted mother. The staff of Westminster Canterbury-Richmond have our family's heartfelt appreciation for the loving and dedicated care they provided throughout her stay. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., where services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
