Augustus "Gus" Couch Jr.

COUCH, Augustus "Gus" Jr., of Midlothian, Virginia, 74, departed this life on March 3, 2009. Formerly of Wilmington, Delaware. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 10 years, Annie Louise "Lue" Little; his parents, Augustus "Guss" Couch Sr. and Rachel Ford Couch; brothers, Ernest, Timothy, Early, James, and Mack Couch; three stepchildren, Jeff Jr., Jimmy, and Martha Turner. He is survived by his wife, Monnie Bigelow Couch; five children, Anita Couch Lightfoot (Wayne), Jeff L. Couch (Susan) and Michael Couch of Midlothian, Kenneth Turner (Sharon) and Tracy Wilson of Richmond; two brothers, Bishop Otis Couch of Philadelphia, Pa. and Clearmon Couch of Wilmington, Delaware; three sisters, Rosa Thatch of Cleveland, Ohio, Codie Homier of New Castle, Delaware, and Addie Everett of Wilmington, Delaware; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews and devoted friend, Jackie Cole. He attended Wilmington Public School and graduated from Howard High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Cryptographer. Taking the codes to his grave is what he promised and what he did. He moved to Midlothian, Va. in 1978 with his family. Couch retired from Reynolds Metals as a Lab Technician after 33 years. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, Richmond, Va. 23225. Viewing begins at 10 a.m. and the funeral services will proceed at Noon at Mount Zion Holy Church, 3401 Chapel Drive, Richmond Va. on Monday March 9, 2009. Elder Donald Fonville preceding.
