TURLINGTON, Rebecca Tippett, 76, formally of Henderson, N.C., passed away peacefully Monday, August 10, 2009 at her home in Mechanicsville, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Hugh Edsel Turlington. She was a 25-year member of Glen Allen OES Chapter #61 and served as Bethel Guardian of IOJD Bethel #53. She retired after 14 years from Children's Hospital in 1998 to be with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha Turlington Lloyd and Mark Alan Lloyd; grand-daughter, Anna Rebecca Lloyd; grandson, Alan William Lloyd; cousin, William E. Hester and wife, Carleen; a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, Va., and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Flowers Funeral Home, 1833 Oxford Rd, Henderson, N.C. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Henderson, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va.

Martha,
I have such amazing memories of Windingbrook Road and Oconto Road and our early years together. Your parents were so good to me....your Dad driving us around in his neat Mustang....your Mom keeping us all straight and serving us great lunches. We played Barbie games endlessly and she called you "Martha Tippett" often. I know how heartbroken she was when you both lost your sweet Daddy so suddenly and at such a young age.

This is such a huge loss for all of you, especially since she has lived with you for some time....what a great gift you, your children, husband and your Mom enjoyed, living together as an extended family.

I am thinking of you across the miles from NJ.
