Ivan Edward Forrester

FORRESTER, Ivan Edward, 86, of Powhatan, passed away on August 18, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born May 15, 1923, in Mountain City, Tennessee. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940, where he fought in World War II. After four years in the Navy, he joined the U.S. Air force, serving for 26 years, retiring in 1970 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Ivan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis J. Forrester; daughter, Rita G. Forrester, of Powhatan; two sons, Ivan E. (Mike) Forrester Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Colonial Heights, Timothy S. Forrester and his wife, Carolyn, of Palmyra; two grandsons, Logan Forrester and Thomas Forrester, both of Palmyra. A graveside service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. in Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield. Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, Powhatan conducting services.
