HAMPTON, Sandra Lee Hansen, died peacefully August 29, 2009. She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Ray Pendleton Hampton; son, Paul B. Hampton, his wife, Michele, and their two children, Joseph Robert and Sophie Elena; son, Patrick C. Hampton; daughter, Anne P. Hampton, along with her daughter, Morgan Alexandra and her father, William Green, and his son, Jesse. She also leaves her loving church family at The Church of the Epiphany, where she has been a member since age 5. She also leaves dear friends, Mitchell Perkins and his son (her "third son"), David M. Perkins, his wife, Blair, and their two children, Alan Tripp and Berkley Elizabeth, her babies. Sandra was active in the Episcopal Church Woman's group, and on the Diocese Executive Board where she served on the Committee for Constitution and Bylaws, chaired the Scholarship Committee and served as co-president of Region 11 representing the 1-5 Episcopal Churches for eight and a half years. She taught Sunday school, Bible school and helped serve Lenten lunches at St. Paul's. She was on the Altar Guild of The Church of the Epiphany for 32 years, and was chairman for four years. She loved to arrange flowers and frequently provided arrangements for weddings at Epiphany and other locations. She loved watercolor and enjoyed painting. She was an Art major at Longwood College, and after, helped at school functions showing techniques and mixing colors for overlay. She loved children and provided a special kind of childcare for a number of tots. Services will be held at The Church of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Rd., 12 noon on Tuesday, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Church of the Epiphany Search Committee or the Project in Lyre.
