Richard P. Hotchkiss

HOTCHKISS, Richard P., 81, of Richmond, beloved brother and uncle, died September 6, 2009 of Multiple Myeloma. Formerly of Heartwood Road in Richmond, he was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Mae Hotchkiss; brother, Hugh Jones; and sisters, Ruby King and Virginia Pedley. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Hotchkiss Bailey of Hopewell; and brother, Robert Hotchkiss of Savannah, Ga. He had no children but is revered by numerous nieces, nephews and friends, particularly his dear friend, Shirley Spillers, who was a great comfort to him in his illness. Retired as a court recorder for the State of New York, he had been a Richmond resident for 24 years. He was a lifelong amateur musician, world traveler, generous and gentle soul who was an inspiration to us all. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff at Manor Care Assisted Living and especially to Bonnie, Margaret and Roz who gave devoted and loving care to him in his declining months.
