WATTIE, Charles L., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2009. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Elaine Harris Wattie; two sons, Shephon and Lekevis Wattie; four stepchildren, two stepgrandchildren, two great-stepgrandchildren, one goddaughter; a devoted mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Wattie; two sisters, Vernelle Shelton and Hazel Pleasant; two brothers, James "Buster" and Thomas Wattie (Janet); seven sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three aunts, one great-aunt, one great-uncle; four devoted friends, Lorrine Jackson, who he considered his second mother, Sheila Pryor, Walter Jackson and Albert L. Jackson; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the F.E. Dabney Funeral Home, 600 B Street, Ashland. Homegoing services will be Friday, October 2, 1 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 17520 Jefferson Hwy., Montpelier. Rev. Alex Shelley, pastor, officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Garden.
