Margaret TRUITT Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Sep. 27, 2009.
TRUITT, Margaret A., was born on August 1, 1906 in Reedville, Va. at the "Old Reedville House." She was the daughter of William Flynt Armsworthy and Maggie Wilson Haynie Armsworthy. In 1908, she moved with her family to the family farm near Burgess on Rt. 360. She resided there until moving to Farnham Manor in 1996. Mrs. Truitt passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 in the early morning at the Manor. Mrs. Truitt graduated from Fairfields High School and Smithfield Massey Business School in Richmond. For almost 30 years she was a cashier at the Bank of Northumberland in Heathsville where she made many friends. In the 1940s, she married Arthur J. Truitt of Locksley Hall Farm in Lilian, Va. Mrs. Truitt was an active and lifelong member of Fairfields Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, mainly the Junior Boys, for a number of years. Her other contributions were numerous: the church organist, pianist and choir member. Mrs. Truitt was the sister of Graydon Armsworthy, Merle Armsworthy Cardozo, and Elizabeth Armsworthy Ewing, all deceased. Her husband preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by her remaining sister, Frances Armsworthy Haynie of Reedville, Va. Her surviving nieces and nephews are Mary Jane Barr of Florida, Peggy Straughan of Georgia, Carol Ewing of California, Julia M. Cardozo Haynie of Colorado, Sidney Armsworthy of Reedville, Va., David Haynie of Reedville, Va., Dr. Norwood Cardozo of Florida, Alvin Ewing of Colorado, and Bill Ewing of Richmond. Marnie, as we all knew her, made a lasting impression on every life she touched. We will miss her, but know that she is in a better place. A funeral service will be held at Fairfields Baptist Church on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville, Va. Faulkner Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Burgess, Va., is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to: Fairfields Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 216, Burgess, Va. 22432, or the charity of one's choice. Online remembrances may be made at faulknerfamilyfuneralhome.com.
