Grace Trimmer BROSKIE

BROSKIE, Grace Trimmer, was born April 7, 1922, and deceased September 27, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Eckener Broskie; and by eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nancy Elaine Broskie and husband, Bill, in Oregon. Grace is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends from Virginia and Harrisburg, North Carolina. In recent years she especially appreciated her neighbors, Georgia and Herb Bruch, and her sister-in-law, Carol Trimmer. Grace is in the national Softball Hall of Fame in Virginia, and won numerous Iris awards in Charlotte. She worked at Dupont and the Federal Reserve Bank before being a housewife and the Harrisburg neighborhood stay-at-home mom who took care of sick neighborhood children while taking care of her five acres of land, gardens and pond. She was an expert marksman and fisherwoman. She had visitors practically every day for 40 years to try her new recipes before succumbing to lung cancer. The family will receive friends at Faulkner Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Burgess, Va., on Thursday, October 1, 2009, from 2 to 3 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville, Va., at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Virginia, P.O.
