ADERHOLT, Emily Belle Platt, 92, of Hopewell, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Riverview on the Appomattox. Mrs. Aderholt was born in Newport News, Va. and had been a long-time resident of Hopewell. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Hopewell, Historic Hopewell Foundation, an officer with APVA, a lifetime member of the Nathaniel Cawsey Garden Club, and a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she was active in St. Catherine's Guild. She was retired from the Department of Social Services in Hopewell, Va. . Mrs. Aderholt was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Elsie Eleanor Miller Platt; her husband, Charles "Charlie" Lafayette Aderholt; two sisters, Marjorie P. Hering and Sydney P. Voda; and a brother, Harry Platt. She is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. Smith and her husband, Laurel, of Hopewell, Suzanne M. Sebenaler and her husband, Cmdr., USN Brian Sebenaler, of Coronado, Calif.; a son, Charles Kirk Aderholt and his wife, Paige, of Chester, Va., four granddaughters, Kristin Spivey, Elizabeth Westbank, Hannah Sebenaler, Hilary Warthan and her husband, Chad; two sisters, Sylvia P. Cyckevic, of Hopewell, Elsie P. Robinson, of Newfoundland, Pa.; three brothers, John "Jack" M. Platt of Houston, Texas, William "Bill" H. Platt of Hampton, Va., and Robert G. Platt of Richmond, Va. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Taylor, Rector officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. John's Episcopal Church, 505 Cedar Lane, Hopewell, Va., 23860 or Historic Hopewell Foundation, Inc., Weston Manor, P.O. Box 851, Hopewell, Va. 23860. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
