Norma Ligiecki Obituary

Ligiecki, Norma (Liszka) NISKAYUNA Norma Liszka Ligiecki, 71, of Pawtucket Avenue, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 27, 2008 at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born in Chicopee, Mass. on December 15, 1936, a daughter of the late Joseph and Michalda Knapp Liszka. She was educated in Chicopee where she graduated from high school and college. For many years, Norma was employed by Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory where she worked as an executive assistant. While she was employed by KAPL, she also worked as an independent floral-interior designer. Norma enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to play the piano and appreciated music, enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and was instrumental in establishing her family camp with her husband. Norma took great pleasure in cooking and her family will remember her as an exquisite cook. Norma was the beloved wife of the late Theodore J. Ligiecki Sr., whom she married in 1956. He later died April 28, 2001. She was also predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Ligiecki. Survivors include her beloved children, Laura Wright and her husband Stephen of Virginia Beach, Va. and Theodore J. Ligiecki Jr. and his wife Shirley of Day, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Alexander DeMarzio, Joshua Ligiecki, Jason Wright, Anthony DeMarzio, Josiah Ligiecki, Nicholas DeMarzio and Justin Wright; a great-grandchild due within the next few days; several nieces and nephews; and her dear poodle, Princess. Calling hours, which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street. A service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held Friday morning in Corinth Rural Cemetery, Corinth, N.Y.

Norma was a good friend and co-worker with whom I shared many fun times and laughs throughout our 36 years of acquaintance. Her sense of humor, loyal friendship and caring nature will be profoundly missed by me and everyone who were fortunate to know her.
