Helen Iwanos Obituary

Iwanos, Helen ALBANY T. Helen Iwanos, age 75, entered into eternal life Monday, April 21, 2008. Born in Troy, Helen had been a lifelong area resident. She was employed by the Marine Midland Bank for many years before her retirement, and also worked in the family business, the former Broadway Bakery in Albany. She was a life member of the Polish American Citizens Club. Helen also loved animals and playing bingo. Daughter of the late Walter and Rose Dec Pogoda. Beloved wife of the late Michael Iwanos; loving mother of Mark Iwanos of Latham, Rosemarie D'amico-Moran of Albany, and Helen Sowek and her husband Mike of Schenectady; sister of Walter, Teddy and Edward Pogoda, Irene VanFonda and the late Stanley Pogoda; cherished grandmother of David Urban, Justin Iwanos, and Jared and Seamus Moran. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights, (Northern Blvd.), Albany, at 9 o'clock Friday morning. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

I remember when we were in high school and your Mom worked at the bank and we would drive thru the drive-thru and wave at her and she would laugh. I know she will be greatly missed.
