Adam P. Kopf

Kopf, Adam P. DELMAR Adam P. Kopf, 85, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a short illness with his family by his side. Born February 18, 1923 in New York City to Anton and Elizabeth (Berweiler) Kopf, Adam grew up in College Point, N.Y. and graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in Astoria, Queens. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1943 to 1946 and later attended the University of Pittsburgh and Columbia University. Adam was employed by the Equitable Life Assurance Society in NYC for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked as an appraiser for the town of Clarkstown and Par Pharmaceutical Resources until 1996. Adam and his wife, Ann moved to Delmar from New City, N.Y. in 2006 after 41 years in Rockland County. Adam played softball and basketball in his younger years and was a competitive bowler in midlife. First in his life always was his love for his family and his concern for their well being. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Greenhalgh) Kopf; loving father to Grace Andres (Will) of Endicott and Beth Rice (Kevin) of Voorheesville; proud grandfather of Amber Miller, Hadden and Quinlan Rice; and uncle of Richard Wichner. He is predeceased by a sister, Ann Wichner and a brother, Anton Kopf. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Rockland County Veterans Cemetery.
