David J. Long Sr.

Long, David J. Sr. SCHENECTADY David J. Long Sr., unconditional loving father of six and husband, died at Ellis Hospital in July 1, 2008. Born in Stormville, N.Y. on October 21, 1923, to Thomas Long Sr., and Louise who are both deceased. He was the youngest of 10 children and the last to leave this world to be with the Lord. David J. Long Sr. is survived by his immediate family, wife Sheila of 37 years; daughters, Denise Ciccio of Westchester, N.Y. and Claudette Long-Fennicks of Schenectady, N.Y.; his sons who are all out of state, Steven, David Jr., Joseph and Erick; 12 grandchildren, Lawson, Cierra, Shawnna, Joseph, Leandro, Sarah, Anna, Teresa, Cinezra, Rynutsia, Tansha and Sheila; three foster sons who grew up with his family, Kenneth Spriggs, David Ottati and Jerome Simpson. Mr. Long is also survived by numerous foster children, nieces and nephews. Mr. Long came to Schenectady after being honorably discharged in 1945 from the 301st Fighter Sqaudron, Airplane Armorer 911. He was a devout Christian man who was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a dedicated longtime active member for many, many years of Bethel AME Church in Schenectady. On Monday, July 7, 2008, viewing hours will be held at 11 a.m. and funeral services for Mr. Long will be at 12 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 540 Mumford Street, Schenectady, N.Y. 12307. The procession will follow the service to take Mr. David J. Long Sr. to his earthly resting place...Saratoga National Cemetery located at 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 and the repast will be at 965 Strong Street, Schenectady at 5 p.m.
