Richard Biittig Obituary

Biittig, Richard E. EAST GREENBUSH Richard E. Biittig, 89, of Evergreen Commons, formerly of Burden Lake Road, Averill Park, died on Sunday, July 6, 2008 after a long illness. Born in Sand Lake, he was the son of the late Walter and Katherine Beerer Biittig and husband of the late Hilda Dobert Biittig. Richard was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired in 1982 from General Electric in Schenectady, where he was a machinist for many years. He was a longtime member of the Zion's United Church of Christ in Taborton. Richard was the brother of the late Oswald, Walter, Edward, Fred, Thomas and Joseph Biittig. Survivors include his son, Ricky C. (April) Biittig of Middle Grove, N.Y.; his daughter, Marcia (George) Millington of Wynantskill; a sister, Katherine Downs of East Greenbush; two brothers, John Biittig of Glenville and Anthony Biittig of Averill Park; his grandchildren, Christopher Millington of Sand Lake, Tamara Fearnley of Stephentown, Melissa Millington of Averill Park, Paul Millington of Las Vegas, Joshua Biittig of Ft. Meyers, Fla. and Amber Biittig of Johnstown; and three great-grand-children. Funeral service, Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Zions United Church of Christ, Taborton Road, Sand Lake. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church on Wednesday, 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Taborton Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Richard E. Biittig, may be made to the Zion's United Church of Christ, 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY 12153. Arrangements by the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, Averill Park, N.Y.

To the Biittig Family, I am very sorry for your great loss. I remember him a the numerous reunions and clam steams at G'pa's (Osie). We were so pleased to see him at the last reunion two years ago.
