Harold Berner Obituary

Berner, Harold F. NORTH GREENBUSH Harold F. Berner, 84, of Geiser Rd., Wynantskill, passed away suddenly at his home in the early morning hours of July 7, 2008 after a long illness. Born in Sand Lake, he was the only son of the late Edward F. Berner and Florence Teal Berner-Warren. Harold enlisted in the Navy, serving during World War II. Harold and his wife, Betty J. Richardson, were married on January 24, 1948 and settled in Wynantskill to raise their children. Harold had retired in 1986 from Main Care where he had been a service technician for several years. Harold was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent much of his spare time growing vegetables and berries in the garden and loved camping with his family. Harold enjoyed life to the fullest, loved to dance and had many loyal friends. Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Bruce (Georgie) Berner of Averill Park, Gary (Linda) Berner and Shirley (John B.) Ernst of No. Greenbush; his grandchildren, Sheila Berner, Heather Momrow, Jason Berner, Cory Berner, John Q. Ernst, Joshua Berner Sara Bendetti and Jared Berner; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Friday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Thursday 5-7 p.m. Interment, Bloomingrove Cemetery, Defreestville. If desired, donations in memory of Harold F. Berner may be made to the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center (Morrell Center) New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
