Streisand, Gloria Shirley ALBANY Gloria S. Streisand, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, died after a brief illness on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital. Longtime resident of Great Neck, N.Y. and Lauderhill, Fla., Gloria spent many summers in the Albany area, ultimately settling in Albany. Gloria was born in Boston on May 3, 1928, daughter of the late Edythe and Samuel Goodman. She held baccalaureate and master's degrees in music and education from New York University and Columbia University, respectively. She taught and worked in real estate and public relations. She recently taught a course in opera for senior citizens at the Albany Jewish Community Center. Her friends and family will miss her staunchly positive outlook, her inspirational love for life, exceptional kindness and generosity. Survivors include her brother, Dr. Robert (Marilyn) Goodman; six children, Dr. Robert (Joan) Streisand, Karen (Steve) Shapiro, Nina (Aaron) Sher, Dr. Jim (Anne) Streisand, Scott (Lisa) Streisand and Jennifer (Emil) Venere; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by dear Albany friends, Laura McKinley and Libby Godfried. The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital (Unit 4 McAuley) and to St. Peter's Hospital Hospice for the exceptional kindness and care shown to Gloria during her stay. Funeral arrangements are private. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Drive West, Albany, NY 12205.

The Streisand Family,
Tim and I would like to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of our friend/neighbor. Gloria lived across from us in the condominiums and we always enjoyed seeing her and chatting for a few minutes. She was a special lady with a wonderful smile and we she will be sadly missed.
