Clifford Marks Obituary

Marks, Clifford K. ALBANY Clifford K. Marks, 73, died suddenly Thursday evening, July 17, 2008 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on September 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Clifford Henry Marks and Sara Kinzer Marks. Mr. Marks graduated from Tennessee Poly-technical Institute in June 1957, receiving a B.S. in civil engineering. He was employed by several companies including the Chicago Great Western Railroad Company in Iowa where he was a roadmaster and bridge engineer. Mr. Marks moved to the Albany area in 1966. He operated Standard Engineering Company and then Green Marks Engineering with his partner, James E. Green. Mr. Marks retired from Spectra Engineering in Latham in 2006 and continued consulting on various projects. Mr. Marks is survived by his wife, Lois Durnan Marks; his son, C. James Marks and his wife Davida of Voorheesville and his daughter, Catherine Osmer and her husband John of Danvers, Mass. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Danielle Lynne Tremblay of Danvers, Mass., Joshua Matthew Marks, Justin Daniel Marks and Jacob Christopher Marks, all of Voorheesville; two sisters, Iris Wilson of Cantonment, Fla. and Sara Anne Kerley of Houston, Texas; and a special sister-in-law, Mary Oleksak of Albany; a nephew, several nieces and his constant companions, Trudy and Trevor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany. Relatives and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Contributions may be sent to the Albany Obedience Club, c/o Mrs. Meryl Winnie, 895 W. Dwayne Lake Road, Duanesburg, NY 12056.

I am sad to hear of Clifford's sudden death. Clifford and I roomed together our last year in college. We spent many hours together pursuing our engineer degrees. I know Clifford's dedication to his family and his profession have been exceptional. He was that type of young man. My sincere condolences to his entire family.
