Margaret Jackson Obituary

Jackson, Margaret TAMWORTH, N.H. Margaret Ridgeway Jackson, beloved friend and neighbor, of Tamworth, N.H., died on July 14, 2008 at Bridgeton Hospital in Bridgeton, Maine, after a brief illness. Margaret was born in North Albany, N.Y. on May 3, 1920. She was the only child of Thomas Henry Jackson and Margaret Elizabeth Bolton. She grew up and attended school in Schaghticoke, N.Y. She received her bachelor of fine arts from Syracuse University and her master's of fine arts from New York University. Margaret was an art teacher in both elementary and high schools. From 1952 until her retirement in 1975, she taught at Colonie High School in Colonie, N.Y. After her retirement, she moved to Tamworth to join her longtime friend, Marion E. Smith. She remained in touch with many of her former students, receiving visits from some of them over the years. She was an accomplished artist and always encouraged others to pursue their talents. Margaret will be remembered for her mischievous sense of humor, her love of dancing and the outdoors. She was an avid gardener, maintaining beautiful perennial flowerbeds. She enjoyed her home and the view from her front porch overlooking the Bearcamp River and Mount Whittier. Margaret served on the altar guild at St. Andrew's - in - the - Valley Episcopal Church for many years and supported a wide variety of charities. She is survived by her cousins, David Bronson of Binghamton, N.Y., Julia Jean-Marie of Ontario, Canada, Frank Bolton of Ariz. and Evelyn Bolton of Mechanicville, N.Y. There will be a memorial service and interment on Tuesday July 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's - in - the - Valley Episcopal Church on Old Rt. 25 in Tamworth. The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee is in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Jackson was my art teacher at Lisha Jr. High School in1959-60 and at CCHS!! When Prop. 13 passed in CA, it was necessary for me to teach 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade art. I did a good job using techniques I learned from her!
As well, I used musical training that I received from Phil Foote and Betty Mathias, her colleagues!!!
