Kite, Dr. William Casper Jr. SLINGERLANDS, N.Y. William Kite, 89, of Slingerlands, formerly of Loudonville, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008. Born July 6, 1919 in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was the son of the late William Casper Kite Sr. and Maude Adeline Bandel. He graduated sum-ma cum laude from Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore, Md. in 1943. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, and served as chief of eye, ear, nose and throat section, Fort Monmouth Station Hospital in N.J. This was followed by a general surgery residency at New York University in New York City, and a fellowship in neurophysiology at Montreal Neurological Institute, where he also earned a M.S. degree in neurophysiology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He began his neurosurgical residency in Montreal, moving to Albany in 1950. He completed his postgraduate training at Albany Medical Center in 1952. Dr. Kite was in private practice in Albany for 37 years, including several years in shared practice with his son, Charles H. Big Bill will be missed. Many fond memories of him. His voice could be heard throughout the Heights when he would call: "JAA AHN, TAA AM"!! All our love to the family.

Dr. Kite was a Great American!! My thoughts reach out to Mrs. Kite, Bee, Charlie, Tommy & John!!

We'd be down in the basement, drinking diet tab(Lilly was upstairs a-cookin' lunch), and Dr. Kite would yell down the stairs, "Tommy?! TOMMY"!! And Tommy, annoyed as all get out, from below..."Yeeeaass"!!

Dr. Kite would say, "Get the Chute"!!

We got some 'words' for crawling around the fiber-glass construction in the garage, didn't we.

There are many memories: How 'bout the time it was 'your turn' to drive us back to T-P; you drove and Dr. Kite sat in the back w/ this portable tv and watched the Jets Game.

I remember staring at Dr. Kite's hand where the gun completely blew off his little finger, w/o Dr. Kite knowing that I was trying to get a clear view.

One of the high points of Loudon Heights was entering in through the vestibule and hanging a left and descending down 2 or 3 steps into one of the most opulent and expansive living rooms, ever.

Try it at Christmas Time, too..!!

Dr. Kite would greet me, I'd try to say something clever, invariably, but will never forget Dr. Kite's inexorable and amiable response with a chuckle(w/o ever opening his mouth!!).

Who is funny-enough to get that man to roar w/ guffawing laughter..and display THAT HAND!!

Dr. Kite did not 'suffer fools gladly'.

Dr. & Mrs. Kite are tremendous people and have raised a tremendous family!!

Dear Charlie and family,
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dad. He's sailing free now with a good favorable wind. Perhaps not listening to Bob Marley but hey Charlie, you never know. Allow me to express the sorrow of the rest of the AMC Neurosciences Research Center Staff. Wishing you peace,

I am one of the doctors patients who back in 1958 if not for him I would not be here today. I got to meet Dr. Kite again at SPNRC it was a chance for me as an adult to thank him. He will be missed.
