Suzanne Wasserman Obituary

Wasserman, Suzanne ALBANY Suzanne "Susie" Wasserman passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008. Susie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Wasserman. She was the beloved sister of the late Rose Wasserman, Sylvia Wasserman Melikofsy (Jerry), Ruth Wasserman Plaine (Joe) and Harry Wasserman. Susie was the aunt of Rise Melikofsy Glaser (Peter), Joseph Melton, Marilyn Plaine Esterson (Cliff) and Mark Plaine (Elena). Susie was the great-aunt of Jennifer Glaser PhD., Holly Esterson and Hannah Melton. After retiring from the Boston Store as their senior accountant, Susie made a point to be the role model for the existing family. Susie was a woman totally dedicated to her family. Throughout her life she set the bar for integrity, kindness, humor and caring. Susie took great pride in the accomplishments of her nieces, nephews and great-nieces. Recently, Susie was acknowledged in a thesis housed in the University of Pennsylvania Library as being one of the motivating individuals who prompted her niece to receive her doctorate. Special thanks to her cousins Addie and Marv Glazier, and to the staff of Daughters of Sarah who made her last days peaceful ones. The entire family will miss her. Services at the Beth Israel Cemetery Chapel Abbottsford Road, Rotterdam, N.Y. on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, 180 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12203.

Dear Marilyn, Rise and Mark,
I was so very sorry to hear about Suzie's recent passing. I was away and heard about it from the Russian residents at B'Nai Brith. I have to tell you what a difference she made in the lives of so many who lived in the building. She ALWAYS had a smile and kind words for EVERYONE she met in the hallways. For some of the residents, it was the only interaction they had! I often saw her in Hannaford or in the "Kosher" Price Chopper and I saw how she loved to see and visit with people she knew from years ago. She loved to reminisce with me and we both enjoyed talking about the "old" days of when I used to play with Marilyn and steal sweet pickles from the refrigerator. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her and I hope that memories of times shared will bring you comfort.
