J. O'Keefe Obituary

O'Keefe, J. James TROY Joseph James (Jim) O'Keefe, 70, of River Street, died suddenly on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at his residence. Jim was husband of the late Ellen Veshia O'Keefe, who died September 6, 1999. He was a graduate of Averill Park High School. Jim worked as a millwright with Madden Shipyard for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. Survived by a daughter, Jamie Kennedy of Schodack; a son, Christopher O'Keefe of Conn.; his siblings, George O'Keefe (Carolyn) of R.I., Bernadette Mardon (Arthur) and Jeanne Carpentier (Richard), both of Averill Park, and Joseph E. O'Keefe (Dianne) of Chesapeake, Va.; two stepsons, David and James Veshia, both of Waterliet; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Former husband of Lorraine O'Keefe of North Greenbush. Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry's Church, Averill Park. Calling hours 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. I am saddened by your loss. Jim was a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor. Jim worked with my husband Patrick for many years. Spent lots of time in McGrath's with Jim and Ellen through the years. Lots of great memories. Will miss him dearly.

we are so very sorry for your lossJim was a very close dear friend of ours and we will miss him dearly . jim loved his red socks and we loved the yankees. he would say the yankees suck , and when he call the house he would alway say hello darling and i would say hello darling my partner bob is really taking jim death hard jim was a dear friend of his he would pick bob up every Thursday so bob could cash his check , and jim would take our cigarette order and bob jim would have a private bet on yankees against red socks. so yes he was a dear friend and a wonderful person. we miss so very much .
