Raymond Addison Barkhuff Jr.

Barkhuff, Raymond Addison Jr. HALFMOON, N.Y. Raymond Addison Barkhuff Jr. of Halfmoon, age 90, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, N.Y. on August 13, 2008. Raymond was born the son of the late Raymond A. and Margaret Niles Barkhuff, on July 26, 1918 in Amsterdam, N.Y. Raymond graduated from Colgate University in 1940, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1942 and Western New England College in 1977. He lived in Hampden, Mass., for 35 years before moving to Halfmoon. He was a research chemist and group leader with Monsanto Chemical Co. in Springfield, Mass. and was awarded 16 patents during his 34 years with the company. Then he opened a private law practice in Hampden for 18 years retiring in 1996. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Hampden. Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary S. Barkhuff of Halfmoon; three sons, James A. Barkhuff of Groton, Mass., Richard A. Barkhuff of Dayton, Maine and Thomas S. Barkhuff of Clifton Park, N.Y. and a daughter, Ann Cunningham of Gwynedd, Pa.; a sister, Betty Gambril of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew. A graveside service will be this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Clifton Park Village Cemetery in Halfmoon, N.Y. Memorial contributions to, in lieu of flowers, the Lions Club of Hampden.
