Edward Foley Obituary

Foley, Edward M. COHOES Edward M. Foley, 86, of North Reservoir Street, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late John and Cecilia McLean Foley. Mr. Foley graduated from Siena College. He received his master's degree from Fordham University and his doctorate from Harvard University. Mr. Foley was a professor of Slavic languages at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Foley was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Schumacher of Loudonville and his brother, James J. Foley of Sag Harbor, L.I. He was the loving uncle to his niece, Peg Schumacher and her husband Tom Sutton; and his nephews, John, James, Michael, Kenan and Daniel Foley. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Foley and his brother, John J. Foley. Funeral services will be held from the Stanton-Farrell Funeral Home, 326 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday morning at 8:30 and at Holy Trinity Parish, Vliet Blvd. at 9 a.m. His interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m.
