Jerome Lozoff Obituary

Lozoff, Jerome R. GUILDERLAND Jerome R. Lozoff RPh., age 65, of Guilderland, N.Y., died on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Lozoff attended the former Milne High School in Albany and graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy (Union University) class of 1966. Jerry owned and operated the former Lozoff's Pharmacy on North Allen Street in Albany for many years. In 1982, he began his employment with the NYS Department of Health-Office of the Medicaid Inspector General. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany. Jerry was the husband of Kitty LeClaire Lozoff and father of Collette Lozoff. He was the much loved and adored Poppa to Simone and Sophia Patrone-Lozoff. He was special Poppa to Paula, Carmen, Lucette and Jared. He is also survived by his mother, Mildred Shogaun Lozoff of Albany. Brother of Marsha Heffron. Uncle of Bob, Danny and Rick Heffron and their families. Jerry was the brother-in-law of Cherie and Al Frith. He also leaves an aunt, Shirley Goldberg and many cousins and friends. Jerry was predeceased by his father, Irving Lozoff and a brother, David Lozoff. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to call at the Levine Memorial Chapel on Friday commencing at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's memory to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204 or Equinox Inc., 95 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206. I was so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. Having been one of three Malinowski's that Jerry employed I certainly can attest to the fact that Jerry had the patience of a saint with all of the neighborhood kids. Dear Lozoff family,
I was one of the kids that used to hang around on the steps at the corner of Kent and North Allen. It was a wonderful time of life when kids were kids and kind men like Jerry didn't mind that we were there. I still remember the Royal Palm grape soda. I REMEMBER WITH GREAT FONDNESS JERRY LETTING ALL OF US KIDS HANG OUT AROUND HIS STORE , AND ON HIS STOOP. HE WAS ALWAYS SO KIND.

I was very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I grew up next door to Lozoff's Pharmacy, my mother Lucy Van Bergen worked at the pharmacy for a number of years. Having been a crazy teenager, Jerry befriended me at a time when I really needed a friend. Always a gentleman who came to my aid many times. I will always have fond memories of him.
