I am sorry to hear about your wife. As you know, I lost my wife to cancer earlier this year, so I know what you are going through.

Gwen and i became very good friends the last year in high school and for the next few years afterward. We tooled around in her little green Volkswagon 'Bug" (no gas gauge, just a little 'reserve' lever and sometimes we ran out. Once on the Northway.) I married in 67 and in 68 was a mom. She came to visit after Woodstock to see my baby and tell me I didn't miss anything because the whole Woodstock thing wasn't all it was cracked up to be..she said it was 'very dirty'.

She loved the song "Jennifer" as I'm sure she told you. She said she was going to name her daughter for that song. I asked what if you have a boy. She said 'NO..I will have a daughter!' She loved you even before you were born, Jennifer. She even described what you would look like.

We had so much fun, but also shared our feelings. If one of us liked a boy and he didn't like us, we'd tell each other he wasn't good enough anyway. Once she got in a boy's face for being cruel to me and screamed at him. So many memories. i'll never forget her.

We were constantly laughing and sometimes would pretend we were 'wild' girls, but we weren't. We kept in touch (not nearly enough) over the years .She was so kind and had such a good heart. I loved her, and will miss her.

You have my deepest sympathy, and will be in my thoughts and prayers.
