William McMahon

McMahon, William BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. William Walter McMahon, 87, formerly of Mechanicville, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 22, 2008, at Maple-wood Manor in Ballston Spa. Born September 7, 1920, in Mechanic-ville, he was the son of the late Walter and Florence McMahon. He was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. He married his high school sweetheart, the late Lola Mary Hunter, in December of 1942 and days later began his two tours of duty with the U.S. Navy. He was a chief petty officer with the Navy CB's and was stationed in the Philippine Islands. Bill was very proud of his service to his country. He worked with his father Walter at McMahon's Market in Mechanicville. He later owned and operated his own business in Round Lake, N.Y., the Round Lake Cash Market. William was a member of the Elks Club in Mechanicville and was a past exalted ruler. He was the devoted father of Bill McMahon and his wife Suzanne of Des Moines, Iowa, Todd McMahon and his wife Nancy, of Orem, Utah, and the late Jay McMahon of Saratoga Springs. He was the cherished grandfather of 14, and great-grandfather of seven. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa for their devoted and loving care for Bill over the years; also to Bill's daughter-in-law Lorraine McMahon for her devoted weekly visits to both Bill and Lola through the years. The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family, with burial being held in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to Gordon C.
