Shafts, Irma B. ROUND LAKE Irma B. Shafts, 82, of Round Lake, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Saratoga Hospital. Irma fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, August 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Taylor. She was a lifelong resident of Round Lake. Irma was a homemaker who had a passion for decorating her home and caring for her family. She spent countless hours knitting items which were donated to sick children. She was also proud to have been able to participate in drug studies for cancer drugs during her own battle with the disease. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Joseph W. Shafts. She was the devoted mother of Joseph Jr. and John (Lisa) of Round Lake, Timothy (Luisa) of Halfmoon, Stephen (Rose and her son Robbie) of Malta and Michael of Riverside, Calif. Loving grandmother to Leah and Michael and their mother Mara of Rexford, John and Chelsea of Round Lake, and Robert (Catherine, Md.) of Cranston, R.I.; and great-grandmother to Avery of Cranston, R.I. She is survived by four siblings, William (Doris) Taylor, Diane (Denny) Burdick, David Taylor and Dorothy (James) Quinn and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Taylor. She is also predeceased by two siblings, Jean (Edward) Borman and Robert Taylor, MD. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, which will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, N.Y. at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville following services.
