Dear Mrs. Chiarella, and family,
My sister, Darlene, who still lives in Rochester, e-mailed me with the sad news of Angelo's passing.
Darlene and I are Charlie Barone's twins, and we practically grew up around Angelo. We were attending Our Lady of Mercy High School when Dad was at the Midtown Plaza. I smile, now, when I remember the the times Angelo, or Mr. Grossman, would find us around the Plaza, making sure we were ok...always looking out for Charlie's daughters.
My Dad was always so proud of Angelo, and his accomplishments, and he treasured their friendship, and, from the eulogy Angelo gave at Dad's funeral, I'm sure the respect was mutual.
I am so sorry for your loss, but I am sure Dad is up there...greeting him...joking with him...
Sincerely,
Charlene (Barone) Washington

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I grew up with Pete and would babysit for Bruce and Gail when they lived in your home on Vick Park B. Usually one of the Chiarella brothers or Angelo would pop up the back stairs to say hello! I know you have each other and your memories to comfort you at this time.

Winnie, As the last Chief Engineer of Midtown Plaza, I hold the upmost respect and gratitude for Angelo allowing me to succeed in my career. I will always appreciate the tireless work that Ange did for Midtown. I feel that it is a shame that the Plaza will soon be demolished, however I will always remember what Angelo did for the complex and for Rochester. What an inspiration he was. He shall not be forgotten. God Bless!!

Dear Winnie,
We were saddened to hear of Angelo's death. Not only was he my "boss",
but also my good friend. I worked closely with Angelo for almost 15 years and through the years admired his ability to solve difficult problems.
After leaving Midtown, we moved to Sarasota, Florida. I tried to keep in
touch with you. I heard of Angelo's stroke and just couldn't believe such a vibrant person was so changed. When you came to St. Petersburg, Florida for a vacation Bib and I spent a wonderful day with
the two of you. His mind was still sharp and he was just as witty.
In recent months my only communication with him was through conversations with you.
Charlie Barone, our "Midtown Mayor" and famous barber, must have greeted
Ange and told him, he was next..... no waiting.
Every anniversary of my retirement from Midtown, I play the video tape that was made of the party. Ange and Charlie would have made a great comedy team.
Well, Winnie, I have good memories of a wonderful friend. I hope that your memories of a great partner will bring you comfort

Dear Winnifred, Tom, Frank, and Peter,
I was so deeply saddened to hear of Angelo's death. It almost feels like I have lost an uncle! I remember so well the times we have spent together as families while we were growing up in Rochester. Angelo was always so jolly and accommodating to our gaggle of teens and youngsters. I will always remember adventures at the farm, Thanksgiving Day marches to Cobbs Hill, and chatty rides home after a long evening of babysitting at your home. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very tough time. I only wish my own children had known Angelo and the rest of the gang like I did!

Dear "Mrs. C", Tom, Frank and Peter,
I'm really at a loss for words at the moment - and that is not usually a problem for me. Suffice it to say that Angelo had a strong influence on me throughout my life. So many of the life lessons learned in my formative years, were learned in Angelo's presence, and by his good examples. This is a heavy blow to me in a year already too full of them.
I am sorry.

Dear Winnie,
I was the secretary at#23 School
when you began your teaching
career in Special Education. I saw
all your sons pass thru #23 School
and my husband and I had the good fortune to be a dinner guest at your home when you served a most glorious spinach lasagna. We met
Angelo, a most gracious and warm
host. It was a memorable evening.
We lost touch when you moved to
another City School but your name
came up through one of my grandaughters who student taught at your school, Stephanie Vendel.
She's now graduated from Nazareth and working full-time as a speech
therapist in the City School District.
You and your husband and your sons
each in your own way strong and
dedicated to whatever you tackled.
Please accept our sincere condolences on Angelo's passing.
God Bless You ..our prayers are
with you.
Sincerely,
Carol and Jim Quincey

To the family of Angelo Chiarella
Angelo was my mentor, He gave me the job of Mall Manager of Long Ridge Mall at the age of 26. He had great trust in me and I did well under
his direction. He was a kind and fair man, who would listen and try to help. I will always remember my Friend known as MR MIDTOWN.
God Bless

Angelo,
It was such a great pleasure to you know you. My mom Helen DeGonza sat at the same table with you in the dinning room at Our Lady Of Mercy Life Center. I enjoyed the day's that I would talk with you.
I would bring a cup of Hazelnut coffee with me and share some with you and you would always say to me boy this taste good. Whenever I would pass you in the hall I would stop and you would always give me a hand shake.
May you rest in peace.
