Dorothy Morrison Obituary

Morrison, Dorothy CHANDLER, Ariz. Dorothy "Dotty" J. Morrison (Kampfer), 71, of Chandler, Ariz., died Aug. 25, 2008 surrounded by her family and friends. Born 1937 in Albany, to the late Christian and Jean Thomson Kampfer. Graduated Roessle-ville High School and married Alan Morrison in 1954. Loving mother of Laurie Morrison, Melody Mueller, and Scott Morrison of Chandler, Ariz. and Heather Bueter of Navarre, Fla.; grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of two. Dottie's family and friends meant the world to her. She was energetic and cheerful, and faced life with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Always thinking about kids' welfare, she taught hundreds, perhaps thousands, to swim. She earned degrees from ASU in English and early childhood development while raising her family, and later taught preschool and mentored other teachers for many years. "Teacher Dottie" finally retired from Headstart in 2007. Dottie loved word and card games and spent many late nights playing Bookworm online. She enjoyed playing bridge and met with the same groups weekly for decades. Always a "Jeopardy!" fanatic, she once qualified to be on the show. The Morrisons were founding members of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Chandler and the church was an integral part of Dottie's life. She was their organist for many years and offered her talents at many weddings and special events. Until she became ill at Easter, Dottie served on the pre-school board and often ushered at the evening service. Her faith in the Lord remained steadfast during her illness and she told us of the lessons God had taught her. Greatest of all, she gained an insight on how much her friends and family really loved and cared about her. We love you and miss you mom, Dottie, grandma, great-grandma, teacher, friend, BFF. A celebration of Dottie's life was held at Epiphany Lutheran Church Aug. 31. To see pictures or to sign Dottie's guestbook, please visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/dottiemorrison.
