Patricia Sanders Obituary

Sanders, Patricia J. (Della Rocco) SCHENECTADY Patricia "Pat" J. Sanders, 75, of Arthur Street, passed away Tuesday morning October 21, 2008 at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Born September 16, 1933, Pat was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Effie Sherman Della Rocco. She graduated from Draper High School and went on to be employed within the clerical and managerial fields at General Electric and C&D Distributors. Pat loved life and always looked on the positive side of things. She was never afraid to try something new and loved baking, camping, shopping, animals and spending time talking to her family and friends. She was a member of the Crusaders when the Stockade's Holy Cross Church was in operation. Pat loved people and was a truly caring and compassionate individual. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her role as a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Donald; her daughter, Dena (Jane Wilson); a brother, Dominick Della Rocco (Mary); a sister, Joan Davi (Sal); a brother-in-law, Richard Sanders (Linda); a sister-in-law, Paula Della Rocco; and an aunt, Muriel Stivers; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends. Pat was predeceased by her younger brother, Patrick Della Rocco. Pat's family would like to express their thanks to the medical staff at Ellis Hospital's Intensive Care Unit. A special word of appreciation is extended to Dr. Shailesh Patel and Mary Gillespie, NP for their expertise and compassion during Pat's illness. In particular, we offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital's Pulmonary Care Unit, for tending to our dear wife and mother and assisting her in a peaceful and dignified transition in her final hours. Pat wished for there to be no calling hours. A Mass to celebrate Pat's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 24 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Bradt St., Schenectady. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville. Family and friends are invited to attend. A luncheon will be held following the cemetery service in celebration of Pat's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.

Dena and Don,
I cannot begin to express how sorry I am for your loss. Kelly and I will be here for you for anything that you might need. I can't remember a time when a smile wasn't on Pat's face. She taught us a lot about life and love.
