Jocelyn Kost Obituary

Kost, Jocelyn M. (Amitrano) LOS ANGELES, Calif. Jocelyn Marie Kost, of Los Angeles, died unexpectedly Friday, October 17, 2008. Jocelyn was born June 12, 1975 in Coopers-town, N.Y., attended Guilder-land HS and graduated cum laude majoring in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University. After working for six years as a physical therapist in University Hospitals, Cleveland, she ventured west to Los Angeles to pursue her passion-loving and caring for dogs. Her physical therapy skills served her well in establishing Kost Kanine Services. As she built her business, many of her clients became close friends and served as her family away from home. Fortunately, Jocelyn enjoyed being part of a wonderful family reunion in June which united her siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew and niece for a celebration of her grandfather's 90th and grandmother's 85th birthdays. Jocelyn loved family, animals and her friends. She was a voracious reader and creative writer. As a middle school aged child, she was often found with her nose in medical books. Recently, at the encouragement of her grandmother, she was in the process of writing a children's story with animals as main characters. Her extensive personal library reflected her love of animals. Jocelyn's wit, intellect and love will be sorely missed by her entire family: parents, Christine (Sergio) Amitrano and Franklin (Anne) Kost of Guilderland, N.Y.; siblings, Matthew (Janel) Kost of Hingham, Mass., Nicole (Matthew) Ehrie of Ellicott City, Md., Christopher Amitrano of Los Angeles and Lindsay and Kevin Kost of Guilderland. She also leaves her niece/godchild, Grace Ehrie, and nephew, Ryan Kost; her grandparents, Thomas and Pamela VanDoros of Akron, Ohio, Catharine Kost of Meadville, Pa., Frank Wagner of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by grandparents, Calvin Kost, Elena and Ralph Amitrano and Margaret Wagner. A special thank you goes to her brother, Christopher who was instrumental in helping her make the transition to Calif. and providing her with so much love and compassion these past three years. Jocelyn's short life will be memorialized as a "Celebration." Friends are invited to "share her life" with her family on Saturday, November 1 from noon-3:00 p.m. with a service immediately following at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Guilderland. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to her two favorite charities, Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Fund, c/o Children's Hospital Albany Medical Center, P.O. Box 8928, Albany, NY 12208, or Mohawk-Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Albany, NY 12204.
