Fred LaViolette Obituary

LaViolette, Fred G. NISKAYUNA Fred G. LaViolette, 92, passed on at Albany Medical Center on October 27, 2008. Born in Alamo, Mich., Fred having a strong interest in electronics custom built his own amateur radio station at an early age. He obtained a bachelor's degree in 1938 from Western Michigan and master's degrees in physics and electrical engineering in 1940 from the University of Michigan. He held a professional engineers license from the State of New York. Fred is survived by Irene Voutsas LaViolette, 88, his lovely wife of 65 years; their son, Paul LaViolette; their daughter, Mary LaViolette-Ange and son-in-law Soran Ange of Annandale, Va.; grandson, Captain Anthony Nicolopoulos and granddaughter-in-law Johanna Garcia-Rudi of Madrid, Spain. Thursday, 6 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, there will be a brief service followed by the viewing until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton St., Schenectady, followed by the burial in Evergreen Cemetery, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady. Memorial donations may be made to the Starburst Foundation, www.starburstfound.org

I am very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He was a valued customer of mine at The Stereo Workshop. I have thought of Fred several times in the past few months. He will be missed.
