George W. Whiting

Whiting, George W. ALBANY George Whiting, 78, of Latham, died October 27, 2008 at Resurrection Nursing Home. Born in Snyders Corners, N.Y. on February 1, 1930, he was the son of Kenneth and Pearl Whiting. He was a lifelong area resident and served with the United States Army during the Korean War. George was the owner of Whiting Movers in Albany for 26 years and for the last eight years was the owner-operator of Path Trucking. He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Howard) Westervelt of Guilderland and Doreen Whiting of Colonie; his companion, Sylvia Politano of Latham and her daughter, Linda Koenig and granddaughter, Victoria Khaled; several grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his wife, Dolores Newcomb Whiting, who died in 1981, and his son, Wayne Whiting. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, N.Y. at the Upper Entrance. Following the cemetery, relatives and friends are invited to a gathering at 3305 Ralph Street, Schenectady, N.Y. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baxter-Andrew Funeral Home in Schenectady.
