Harry Schultz Obituary

Schultz, Harry E. Jr. WATERVLIET Harry E. Schultz Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes following a 15-year battle with cancer. Born in Albany on September 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Florence G. (Goode) Schultz Sr. and the devoted husband of Ann M. (Keon) Schultz for 58 years. He attended Roesselville High School and Union College and practiced civil engineering for many years. Harry was employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad as a civil engineer for 41 years, retiring in 1983 as assistant chief engineer. Following his retirement from the Railroad, he worked for several local contractors as a consultant engineer. He was a lifetime member of the American Railway Engineering Association. He was also a volunteer for the Colonie Senior Citizens. Harry was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years, both as a scout and scout master. He truly enjoyed all outdoor activities including camping, hiking, swimming, ice skating, skiing, and fishing. He was an avid golfer and, when the weather kept him inside, he enjoyed bowling and woodworking. Harry also enjoyed traveling on vacation with his wife. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by four loving children, Harry E. Schultz III of Arlington Va., Linda A. (Thomas) Daoust of Concord, N.C., Elizabeth J. (Patrick) Barry of Albany, and Janet D. Scrafford of Milford, N.Y. He is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren, Brian Daoust of Richmond, Va., Kelley Daoust of Concord, Katherine Scrafford, Megan Scrafford, Stephen Scrafford, Hannah Scrafford and James Scrafford, all of Milford; as well as two brothers-in-law, John (Carm) Keon of Latham and Raymond Keon of Virginia Beach, Va.; and his cousins, Ruth Chambers, David Connery and Linda Connery. Harry's family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staffs of St. Peter's Hospital and the Eddy Ford Nursing Home who administered to Harry in his last days. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9 at 8:30 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham and at 9:30 from Our Lady of Mercy Church, 26 Wilson Ave., Albany where Harry's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Waldron. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Our Lady of Mercy Boiler Fund.
