Joseph A. Mickalonis

Mickalonis, Joseph A. WATERFORD Joseph A. Mickalonis, 55, of Mercer St., died Friday, October 12, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Troy he was the son of Jennie Yanchunis Mickalonis of Mechanicville and the late Anthony Mickalonis. He was a graduate of Mechanicville High School class of 1970. Joe was employed for 24 years by Verizon and retired in 2002. He was a member and past chief steward of Local 1118 Communications Workers of America. He was a member and past President of J.W. Ford Hose Co. in Waterford, had volunteered with the Waterford Meals on Wheels Program and coached Waterford Youth Soccer and Little League and Cohoes Babe Ruth. He also was a member of the Friends of the Waterford Public Library. He was an avid fan of the J-E-T-S. "Jets Jets Jets." In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary Duchesne Mickal-onis; his children, Joshua A. Mickalonis and Karen E. Mickalonis of Troy. He was brother of Katherine Berry of Albany, Patty Ann Biski of Clifton Park and Paul Mickalonis of Mechanicville; also surviving is his special aunt, Mary Taglione of Malta; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as his canine companion, Hazel. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to J.W. Ford Hose Co. in care of the funeral home office.
