Mary McLaughlin Obituary

McLaughlin, Mary E. TROY Mary E. Willson McLaughlin, of Troy, died October 12, 2007 at her residence. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen Cotter Willson and the wife of the late Frederick J. McLaughlin who died in 1967. Mary was a graduate of St. Peter's Academy and Catholic Central High School, class of 1932. She had been employed at Cluett Peabody, Troy Savings Bank and retired from the city clerk's office in Troy. Mary was an avid reader, loved to knit, and loved to care for her grandchildren. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where she was a member of the altar rosary society and a former member of the woman's club and volunteer in the school cafeteria. She is survived by five children, Mrs. Mary Ellen (Rudolph) Quirini of Niskayuna, Edward "Ned" (Janet) McLaughlin of Wynantskill, Anne McLaughlin of Troy, Michael (Donna) McLaughlin of Latham, and Frederick "Rick" (Cynthia) Mc-Laughlin of Troy; nine grandchildren, Paul (Stephanie) Quirini, Stephen Quirini, Susan Quirini, Kevin (Jeanne) McLaughlin, Noreen McLaughlin, Sheila McLaughlin, Ryan McLaughlin, Briana McLaughlin, and Kaela McLaughlin; and two great-grandchildren, Conor Mc-Laughlin, and Sean McLaughlin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by an infant son, George; her sister, Helen Will-son; and a brother, Howard Willson. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday 4-8 p.m. Donations in Mrs. Mc-Laughlin's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 310 Spring Ave., Troy, NY 12180 or to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Anne, please accept my prayers for your mom. I am presently in Florida and cannot attend your mother's funeral. It has been a long time, but I still have fond memories of your family, Aunt Hellen and especially your mom.
