Philip Kibler Obituary

Kibler, Philip K. TROY Philip Keith Kibler, died suddenly on October 7, 2007 in a plane crash. Phil was born at St. Mary's in Troy on December 30, 1960. He graduated from Columbia High in 1979, Southampton College, Long Island Univ. with a B.S. degree in marine biology in 1983, went on to Buffalo State to do his graduate work and graduated with a Ph.D. in microbiology in 1988. He worked from 1992 to 1999 at Boehringer Ingelheim in Montreal as a research scientist before beginning his commercial flying career in Cape Cod, Mass. in 2002 as a pilot for the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown in winters and as a pilot for various skydiving companies in New York, Montana and Washington State in the summers. Phil's real love for the outdoors included hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, camping, scuba diving and skiing. He had a deep passion for the Adirondacks and for exploring the most remote corners of the Canadian High Arctic and Southwestern deserts, Fiji, Australia, Mexico and the back roads of Ireland (by bike), with his longtime friend Margo. But his greatest love of all, and one he had the courage to follow, turned out to be flying. He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Nancy Kibler of No. Greenbush; two brothers, Bill (Susan) and nephew Alex of Califon, N.J. and Scott (Lyn) of Plymouth, Maine; and a longtime dear friend, Margo Pfeiff. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Phil's life which will be held at St. Michael's the Archangel Church on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy, NY 12180. Donations in Philips memory would be appreciated and may be made to, Tacoma Mountain Rescue, P.O. I worked with Phil in Montreal some time ago. I always enjoyed listening to him talk about his involvement in sport kayaking, and his passion for the outdoors was palpable. I am shocked and saddened to hear of your loss, but take solace in learning that he followed his heart. Please accept my sincerest sympathies.

To the Kibler Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Philip and your family will be in my prayers and thoughts. I am a friend and former co-worker of Bill and although did not know Philip, I cannot help, just by reading his obituary, to feel his life although far too short, was so full. He was very blessed and so were those who knew and spent time with him. God Bless.

I am very sorry for your loss. I worked with Phil at Stratton Mountain Scout Reservation. As a teenager Phil was a bright, generous, and fun loving kid. When I think of Phil, I think of his tall lanky frame buckled over in a fit of laughter. We didn't keep in touch but I am certain he went on to be a positive influence and an appreciater of life. My thoughts and prayers are with Phil's friends and family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
