Francesco DiBona Obituary

DiBona, Francesco VOORHEESVILLE Francesco "Frank" Philip Di Bona passed away early Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at home in Voorhees-ville, N.Y. Born in Manhattan on November 18, 1920 to the late Salvatore and Maria DiBona Frank lived in Levittown, Long Island for 35 years. He met his wife, Marie Vesely, while serving in the military in Fla. during World War II. While still in his teens, Frank owned a deli in Manhattan. He then served overseas in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, Frank worked for Creedmoor State Psychiatric Hospital and then Macys, where he retired from after 20 years. He was a volunteer Boy Scout leader in the 1960s. Frank relocated to Voorheesville and spent the next 24 years helping to raise his grandchildren. He also worked part-time for the Voorheesville Liquor Store until 2003. Frank was married for over 60 years to his loving wife, Marie B DiBona of Voorheesville, who predeceased him earlier this spring. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Clara) of Hayward, Calif. and Roger (Valerie) of Slingerlands, N.Y.; and grandchildren Jaime, Bryan and Michael. He is also survived by a number of other family members in N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's funeral Mass at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Matthew's Church, Mountain-view St. , Voorheesville. Burial will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery. All other services will be private at the convenience of the family. What wonderful memories I have of Uncle Frank & Aunt Marie.....two very special people. Always fun, always warm and caring, it was great visiting with them and sharing laughter and good times. They touched my life and are truly missed.

Hey, Mike DiBona here just wanted to say sorry I could be there for the funeral and that grandpa will surely be missed. This has been a tough road for some of us and know, hopefully, we all can breathe a sigh of relief as our late family member now rests in peace.
