Francis Pero Obituary

Pero, Francis M. LATHAM, N.Y. Frank entered into eternal life on October 18, 2007 at the Hospice Inn, St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends. Frank was born in Albany, N.Y., August 31, 1926. He was the son of the late Josephine and Joseph Pero. Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corp in World War II and Korean War. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for bravery during the Korean War. Frank was employed at Schaefer Brewery Co. for 25 years. He was owner of Dek-a-Cake and Party Shop on Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham from 1978-1980. In 1980, he went to work for Manufacturers Hanover Bank as a courier and retired in 1989 as a computer data entry associate. Frank was a member of the Holy Name Society and choir at St. Patrick's Church in Albany. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher at St. Ambrose's Church. Beloved husband of Agnes T. (Reid) Pero for 59 years; devoted father of Judith (Gene) Coffey of Clifton Park, N.Y., Anne (Rick) March of Latham, Theresa (Jim) Fagan of Manchester, Conn.; cherished grandfather to Margaret, Kevin and James March, Francis (Franky) and Catherine Coffey. His daughter, Margaret and infant grandson, William predeceased him. Frank is survived by his brother, Herman, Taylorsville, Utah. Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, George and Kenneth and sister, Agnes Ostrander. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends. The family wishes to thank the Sisters and the staff of the third floor B wing at the Teresian House, where he resided for the past 15 months, for all their loving care and kindness. Funeral services Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, thence to St. Ambrose Church, Latham at 11:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Francis in a special way, may send a contribution to Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203 or St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110.

Dear Agnes and Family,
John and I were very sorry to hear that Frank had passed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. The third floor will surely miss him. John misses bringing Frank to Mass on Sunday. I'm so glad I could help for the birthday party that day on the second floor cafe. After just losing my dear Aunt Tess on the A wing the day before I feel your sorrow. God Bless you and know that everyone who knew Frank feels your loss.
