Morris Rosen Obituary

Rosen, Morris ONEONTA Morris "Moe" Rosen, 90, of Oneonta, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. He was born on June 7, 1917 in Cortland, the son of William and Lena (Post) Rosen. He married Caroline (Oross) Yaro Rosen on December 8, 1968. She predeceased him on May 4, 1988. Moe served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He saw action in Europe, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge, and also served in Algeria. For many years he was associated with Otsego Iron and Scrap Metal in Oneonta. He was a co-founder and member of Temple Beth El, and for a period of time served as it's president. He was also a member of Oneonta Post 259 American Legion. He is survived by his sister, Ida Rosen Greenberg of Colonie and her children, Gary Greenberg, and Francine (Robert) Columbus; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth McPhail and her husband Fred Doyle of Stamford; her children, Jennifer Luchetti and Ryan McPhail; his granddaughter, Mary Beth Jones and her son, Austin. Other survivors include a nephew, Barry Rosen; three nieces, Shelley Chamberlain, Jane Rosen, and Susan Rosen; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Yaro of Oneonta. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sam and Jack Rosen; and a stepson, Julius Yaro, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Beth El, 83 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, with Rabbi Donald N. Roberts, officiating. Interment with military honors will held in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Emmons. There will be no calling hours. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Israel Emergency Campaign , United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, The Golub Center, 184 Washington Ave., Ext., Albany, NY 12203, or a charity of choice. Condolences to the family may be made online by visiting our website, www.grummonsfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.
