Patricia Joyner Obituary

Joyner, Patricia K. ALBANY Patricia Kathleen Joyner, formerly of Loudonville and Menands, 80, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Joyner was the widow of John R. Joyner Sr., who died in 1988 and the mother of Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Culver of Albany and John R. Joyner Jr. of Schenectady. She was also the grandmother of Alexandra, Ana and Emily Culver. She is also survived by her brother, Charles P. O'Connor Jr. and his wife Anne of Glastonbury, Conn.; her niece, Amy O'Connor of Washington, D.C. and nephew, Charles P. O'Connor IV of Glastonbury, Conn. Mrs. Joyner was born in Holyoke, Mass. and spent her early years in Westfield, Mass., graduating from Westfield High School. She was also a graduate of Colby Jr. College (now Colby-Sawyer College), New London, N.H. She was formerly secretary of O'Connor Aircraft Co., Inc., the fixed base operator at the Albany County Airport from 1944 to 1962. Prior to joining the family business, she was a secretary for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (now FAA), Airports Division. She was the daughter of the late Charles P. "Chuck" O'Connor, aviation pioneer, and the late Anna Moynihan O'Connor and sister of the late John C. O'Connor. Mrs. Joyner was a member of the Colby-Sawyer Alumni Association and the Ladies of Charity. Funeral services Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, thence to the historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill, Albany at 9:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Jerome's Cemetery, Holyoke, Mass. Those wishing to remember Patricia in a special way, may send a contribution to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
