Janet Derbyshire Obituary

Derbyshire, Janet WYNANTSKILL Janet H. Rouse Derbyshire, 81, formerly of Wynantskill, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush after a long illness. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Edward Rouse and Ruth (Payne) Rouse and wife of the late George C. Derby-shire. She had resided in Albany for 15 years and in North Greenbush since 1966 and was educated at Keene High School in Keene, N.H., class of 1944. Mrs. Derbyshire was a homemaker, caretaker and genealogist. She was a member of the Philip Schuyler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Troy and the National DAR and Dutch Settlers in Albany. She is survived by her son, George M. Derbyshire of Selkirk; her daughter, Sherry L. (David) Messier of Salem; her grandchildren, Rachel Parker, Matthew and George M. Derbyshire, Rose Jojo, Emily and Elizabeth Derbyshire, Nathaniel, Elissa and Christian Webb; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Ellen Derbyshire and a brother, Edward Rouse. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, with Rev. Michael Crandall, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Contributions may be made in memory of Janet Derbyshire to the Alzheimer's Association Capital District Chapter, 85 Water-vliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206-2083. I found her accounting (members.tripod.com/~DERBYSHIRE_2/SHARP9.htm) of the descendants of Otto Scherp, a Palatine German who emigrated to New York in the early 1700s and eventually settled in Rensselaer County. This is extremely helpful in my genealogy research. Thank you, Janet. R.I.P.
